Generations of Oppression.
It all started deep in the distant past,
When a young druid changed a tune meant to last.
The teens all rejoiced, hands in the air!
Elders freaked, tried to stop it, it's really quite unfair!
When Rock and Roll
Moved your soul,
The parents all went mad!
Music like this truly has to be bad!
Some grew up and found LSD!
The 60's and 70's were kind of trippy!
Chill you said. Immorality said square!
Revolution and free love filled the air!
Punk came next with anarchy.
Foul language and the need to be totally free!
Family Values from Republican and Tory.
Wealth for some; working class another story.
Late 80's and 90's had problems galore.
Goth, Grunge, Metal, Rap and many more.
Subliminal messages parents cried!
Problem is, too many lied.
Now we get to the noughties, what a treat.
So many bad influences keep parents on their feet.
Depressed, self-harming, always wear black?
You must be Emo and they want you back!
Or not much money for you to have?
Binge drinking, street fights? Must be a Chav!
Indie seems harmless, pop is too.
Rock can be dangerous if it gets to you!
Rap equals murder, R and B equals sex!
Grammar has gone, we only speak text!
Goth is still going, Metal prevails.
Punk and Grunge will not bail.
Every type targeted; it turns us to thugs.
Parents are panicking; it all leads to drugs.
They want to reclaim us from musical hell.
Any strength or passion they want to quell
Don't blame them though; they think its best for you!
Just remember that their parents did it too!
