Seventeen Ain't So Sweet [Acrostic].Seventeen ain't so sweet, though you couldn't tell Enjoying youth, the last few months of school Various curfews being pushed, dusk coming quite late Energy bouncing through, music cranked up loud Nearing graduation, college coming, summer parties Teenagers ploys at it's finest; not getting caught Endearing words tossed around - pet names of love Exchange sweet smiles, flirtacious glances meet Never realizing she just isn't what they thought Alone inside; she can't break from the guilt Intimidated by the sickness, it's her fault Needing attention, for she's only seventeen. Time is slipping away more quickly than she thought. So afraid of whats to come, the diagnosis was right Off the record, second chances, she's just so young Sorry for her wrongs; she didn't think of this punishment Where was justice? Unable to help her past Ending her life, though it wasn't by choice Even God surely knew that, couldn't he help? Too young to fight, and much too young to die. [ Back to "Sad Poems" page ] |
